This striking residence in the heart of Knightsbridge is a short stroll from Harrods and the V&A. Formerly a Claridge’s suite, this Grade II listed space is an elegant hideaway, crafted around the concept of celebrating the ‘beautiful things in life’.
Originally comprising a bedroom, reception and kitchenette, the 70 sq m scheme is rich in intricate architectural detailing. Designed by Brian Ma Siy Architects, the reimagined interior has been carefully curated to enhance the character of the space.
To draw attention to the elaborate mouldings and cornices, accent lighting from the Flos range has been used to celebrate these theatrical features. As a Grade II listed property, the space presented strict constraints, which restricted the use of light fittings within the ceiling. Wall-mounted Flos C1 fittings were therefore selected in place of downlights, preserving the integrity of the ceiling while creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. In areas with suspended ceilings, discreet trimless downlights ensure the building’s architectural features remain the focal point of the scheme.
In the reception, Flos Fort Lenox luminaires provide subtle uplighting, highlighting the architectural detailing without lighting the ceiling uniformly. This approach achieves the required lux levels, while maintaining a refined visual balance.
